As Hurricane Dorian continues to both threaten the lives and livelihood of many along the east coast and dominate news coverage this week, it is hard to do anything except await its damage. Waiting and bracing for impact is one of the most difficult aspects of life, when we believe harm is coming our way and believe we are powerless to stop it. However, with God, nothing is impossible and we are never powerless. Though prayer is much doubted and maligned in the media these days, it is real, powerful, and personal. The Lord knows us each individually just as a Father knows each of his children and hears us when we cry out to Him. Psalms tells us when He hears us, “The Lord will keep [us] from all harm- he will watch over [our] li[ves]; the Lord will watch over [our] coming and going both now and forevermore.” Our greatest strength in life is only tapped by and through fervent prayer. Today, pray for strength to face whatever you are facing today as well as pray for protection for the people in Dorian’s path.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121: 7-8
