As Hurricane Dorian leaves much destruction and hardship in its wake, it has also spared many, who were originally in its path, the same. Though Dorian is the topic of news today, hardship is not limited to only what it has produced; countless people struggle with difficulties every day from a myriad of causes. We will never know why such hardship happens to some but whatever the cause or reason, we always have the opportunity to respond with love, caring, and help. God says in Deuteronomy, “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.” The best way to praise God for sparing you hardship is to help those who were not. Never allow a blessing from the Lord to go unthanked and unpaid-forward. Today, do what you can to help those who are struggling with hardship — whether from Dorian or from other causes.
