Do you ever feel burnt out or unable to do the things God puts on your heart? That feeling of exhaustion, stress, and purposelessness is a sign that you are spending your time on things that God did not intend for you to do. Think of the things in your life that pour into your life when you give them time — your faith, your family, friends, charitable acts of service, etc. Now think of the things that seem to drain from your sense of purpose. What is the difference? The difference is that using time towards God’s purpose in your life is time invested; using time towards everything else is time spent. Time is just like money— investment yields fruit and dividends while spending only drains. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” When we know Jesus, the burn out we feel in certain areas of life will be rejuvenated. Today, if you are struggling with burn out, draw closer to Jesus. Invest more time with him and your purpose will become clearer.
