The Democrats in the House announced articles of impeachment against President Trump yesterday and the Republicans followed by denouncing those articles as illegitimate. The political storm that has been building for years now is reaching a fever pitch. There are few things that can happen in the political realm that surpass impeachment in terms of eliciting reaction and strong opinions from both sides of the aisle. Even though most of us have an opinion on the matter, do we all need to air it for others to see? Do we need to join the mob and vent our feelings? Do we need to stew over it all day long? No, we have another, better, option. The Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The most powerful thing we can be when the storm hits is calm. That calm in the midst of the storm comes only from the confidence, faith, and trust that God stands with you. Whether your storm today is because of the political news or something else, pray for calm and stand firm knowing God is with you.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
