Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of kindness and thoughtfulness during the Christmas season. While most of us are getting into the Christmas spirit, countless people who work in retail and delivery are working their hardest and longest hours of the year. While Christmas is not about giving and receiving gifts, that custom we all enjoy makes it necessary for others to work hard to provide it. Kathy Ouma went viral this week because of a reaction caught on her doorbell camera by one Amazon Prime delivery driver. Kathy, for no other reason than to just be kind, left our sodas, water, and snacks for delivery workers on her front step. Kareem Earl Reed’s priceless excited reaction warmed hearts across the nation. This little story showed just how easy it is to make someone’s day when we are just a little kind and thoughtful.
We all know the Bible tells us to be kind to others, but how often do we initiate kindness to others before we even know them? We all know how to respond with kindness or even lead with kindness when dealing with other people, but being kind to others before they cross our paths is really what thoughtfulness is all about. It is when we think of others and what they need, and prepare it for them, that we show them the love of Christ. Christ knew we all would need a path to forgiveness and redemption before any of us crossed his path, so he gave his own life for that to happen. Jesus thoughtfully exemplified kindness and love to all of us. This Christmas season, be thoughtful and prepare blessings for others so they are ready when the time for them to be given comes.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32 ESV
