Christmas time is often referred to as the season of light, which is true, but it is really the season of birth. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born unto us! His birth made possible his eventual death for all of us. His death made it possible for all of us to have everlasting life. Having everlasting life requires, though, that we put to death behaviors, beliefs, and thoughts that do not align with the life that Jesus gives us. But in that death, just like Jesus, there is new birth. The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Today, put to death what needs to be put to death because this is the season of birth.
