Elevated Friday, January 3rd, 2020

Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of relentless positivity that really shows that it looks like when to spread joy to all. Jeremiah Murrill has been working at the Chick-Fil-A in Wilmington, NC for a few years and has recently gone viral for how positive and joyful he is each day while working the drive through. No matter the weather, he diligently works to serve the restaurant’s customers, but he works even harder to make sure they leave their short interaction with a smile and a boost in spirit. He works hard to remember his repeat customers names and such an effort has not gone unnoticed. Jeremiah’s positivity is a reminder that no matter what we do each day, life is better when we do it with joy.

Christians believe in our hearts what we call “The Good News.” That news is that Jesus died for our sins but could not be held by the grave, so he rose from the dead and in doing so, has saved us all from our sins. Pretty good news, right!? When we welcome Jesus into our lives and we accept his gift, we believe Jesus lives within us. Most often, we say that the outward expression of Jesus within us is love, as Jesus is love. But there is another byproduct of Jesus living within us. The outward expression of Jesus living within us is not just love, but also true joy. The joy we feel in knowing Jesus is not meant to be hoarded; it is meant to be shared. Today, do as Philippians 4 tells us to do, ““Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
