Monday’s bring work to do, tasks to complete, and stress to manage — but these do not have to be the only things Monday brings. Joy and peace can overflow each morning when we live by the Word of God and not depend on the affirmations of man. But the reason so many do not experience the full joy and peace of the Lord is because they only know the Word of the Lord but do not live by the Word of the Lord. With the Super Bowl coming up, think of this distinction this way: those living the Word are on the field, those who just know it are fans in their seats. It may be exciting to get close to the righteous, but that feeling fades when they leave the stadium. Paul wrote, “What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Peace and joy come not from just knowing the Word of God but from practicing the Word of God. Today, choose to live the Word of God instead of only being a fan of it.

“What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.“ — Philippians 4:9 ESV
