The nation is dealing with two tragedies that are nothing but heartbreaking, the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others as well as a boat dock fire in Alabama that killed eight. Events like these remind us that life is uncertain and fragile. They can also confuse us when we think about our own lives and what we can do against such seemingly random tragedies. It is in these moments of doubt that God is there to lift us up and show us our next steps. Psalm 34 tells us, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” When life does not make sense, God will provide the way forward. Today, if you are dealing with tragedy in your life or just brokenhearted over the recent events in the news, go to God with an open heart.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18 NIV
