We all deal with so much and as a result, our minds are often cluttered throughout the day. When we set aside time to be with Jesus, that is often the only time we spend in his presence each day. We are called to live with our minds focused on Jesus, not on things of this earth. The Bible says, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” But how can we do the things we need to do in life if we are only focused on the things above? Being focused on things above doesn’t mean you don’t give thought and effort to earthly things – it just means those earthly things are not the most important things to you. In addition, when we are focused on Jesus each day, the things we do are more purposeful because they give glory to Jesus and bring others into relationship with him. When we set our minds on the things above, earthly things do not go away – they are just relegated to their proper place. What is important in life is revealed and what is not is let go when Jesus is the one we focus on each day. Today, focus on the things above and spend the day in Jesus’ presence.
