Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of thoughtfulness in a time of need. Fears of the coronavirus spreading caused an upcoming bodybuilding event in Ohio to cancel. The event was going to be very big, taking place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Such a large event already had its food ordered and ready for the expected influx of over 200,000 people. The GCCC quickly decided to load up all that food in refrigerated trucks and ship it down the road to Nashville to help the tornado-affected families. Such thoughtfulness, resourcefulness, and generosity shows that good can always come out of challenging circumstances and that God has ways of sending provision to those in need from the unlikeliest of sources.
Thoughtfulness comes in many shapes and sizes, but it always requires thinking of how we can use what we have to benefit others. Isn’t that really what Jesus was all about? He spoke and acted on behalf of his Father; he had the direct relation to and power of God and instead of using it to bring power to himself, he used it to benefit the world. We are called to use what we have to help others – whatever those resources may be. Jesus famously said, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” Thoughtfulness, when combined with generosity, can lead to incredible blessings. Today, be thoughtful and help others with the resources that you have.
“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” – Luke 6:31 ESV
