Our nation is in a very strange place right now with everyone sheltering from and taking steps against the spread of coronavirus. This would all be easier if we knew just how long it would take for it to pass, but sadly, we are forced to live in a holding pattern for the foreseeable future. Living this way is not easy for anyone, but especially those whose livelihoods depend on people coming out to buy their products and those who are paid because they are out and about working. We serve a God who is bigger than this though – it is often said that there is nothing that can happen on earth that God is daunted by, and this is true. God goes by many names and many descriptors in the Bible, but Paul called Him something in his letter to the Romans especially pertinent to this current world crisis. Paul wrote, “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.” God gives us the endurance and the encouragement we need when we are facing things that scare us the most. Today and everyday, rely on God’s encouragement in his Word and the endurance we can only sustain through a dependent relationship with Jesus.
