We’re in a tough time these days, both health-wise as well as economically. There are very few people who have not absorbed some kind of blow from this pandemic. Amidst the fear and focus on health, some are beginning to wonder what will be left for the younger and future generations if our economy collapses. While that is important, what’s more important is that we, as a society, remember how to give—even when times are tough (and especially when times are tough). If we forget how to give and share with one another in times like this, that collective societal value could be lost to the next generation. The Bible says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Today, give not only to help others, but to set an example by which younger generations can learn from.
