Being ignored, or even feeling as if we are, is one of life’s toughest conditions. It breeds feelings of hopelessness, frustration, and isolation that can quickly give the enemy a foothold in the minds and hearts of our brothers and sisters in our community. Yesterday was a social media “blackout” for many who desired to show publicly that they are here to listen to the minority communities, specifically the black community, who have an important message and perspective to share. This perspective, when listened to and acted upon with compassion and understanding, will lead to a better society. The Bible says, “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;“ Just as Jesus begins to work in our lives when we begin to listen to him, positive change for our community begins when we listen to every member of it. Today, pray for an open mind, compassionate heart, and listening ears. Pray also for peace in our cities amid the violence currently afflicting them.
