Have you ever felt called to help someone but hesitated to do so because of the politics behind it? It is common today to see people scorned or thought less of because they support a cause or help a person that doesn’t necessarily line up with the beliefs of some other groups. It’s sad, but true: politics pollutes people. When we elevate politics’ importance above what really matters, people in need suffer and we, individually, drift from God. Paul wrote to the Romans with the cure for an overly political mind, saying, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” When we renew our minds to see the world the way God sees it, politics becomes far less important than people. When we see as God does, we will understand what He wants us to do and act upon it with courage and faith — regardless of politics behind it. Today, work to renew your mind to see the world as God sees it instead of how the media and political parties would have us see it.
