We often worry about things that, if we took a step back and assessed our situation, we would realize we do not really need. Life is about more than just material gain, or even, political triumph. It certainly feels good to have our preferences validated and is a good thing to have good leaders elected, but to latch our hopes, dreams, and very identity onto a political cause, leader, or outcome will only leave us adrift to the changing tides of what is popular. Jesus said, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” Life is more than what leaders we elect, too; it is about giving glory to God through the kindness, love, and forgiveness we give to our families and communities. If politics and the presidential race has you worrying over what life will look like if one candidate or the other wins, remember that God provides and He will provide for us no matter who occupies a certain office.
“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” – Luke 12:22-23 NIV
