The world is not a black and white place where it is obvious to all what is evil and what is good. The enemy works in the lives of all kinds of people, not just those on one side of or the other of the political aisle. In big election years, it is easy to count yourself as a member of one side of the political aisle instead of the other, emphasizing the good of that side and ignoring the bad. Though we all will need to make a binary decision in November, that doesn't mean that every other day we cannot call out the inconsistencies, hypocrisies, and morally wrong stances of even the party or candidate we favor. The Bible says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” The battleground we fight upon needs to always be that of good versus evil, not political party versus political party. The ability to do this comes from placing our relationship with Jesus above all else in our lives. Through that relationship, we will know what is right and wrong. Today, elevate Jesus above whatever you think about either candidate and allow Him to speak through you, your life, and your vote.
