The news these days is certainly frightening at times. When fear grips us, it controls our thinking — and often, lessens our faith. The cure for fear is assurance. If we are assured of our futures and fates, fear over what happens in the days leading up to it has no power. Those who call upon the name of Jesus rest assured of their futures and fates. They know life will not be easy, but they know what it leads to. Psalms says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” Today, rest assured that no matter what we may experience, we have no reason to fear for God is with us.
