We all at times need rest. Physical and emotional rest are important in life, but spiritual rest is different. When we stop moving forward spiritually, it is then we are often most susceptible to sinful influence. Whether it is taking time to read the Bible each day, spending a few minutes in prayer, worshipping through song, or all three, when we stop pursuing Jesus, over time, we will become more influenced by the world around us. Thus, the spiritual rest we take must be in Jesus and seeking of Jesus -- not a break from speaking with and worshipping him. Jesus said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” When we stop pursuing Jesus, we stop being guided by him. Today, if you need rest physically or emotionally, take it; but refuse to take spiritual rest anywhere but in Jesus.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
