The President and First Lady tested positive, as did several other leaders in government, for COVID-19 over the weekend and news coverage naturally followed their updates. While many on both sides of the aisle, including former VP Biden, wished them well and offered prayers, some did not. While this was certainly predictable, given the partisan rancor this country is facing, it is truly the opposite of what we are called to do. Romans says, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” When the world is experiencing the most trouble, we can all get a little overheated in our thinking. It is important to remember this verse when we feel ourselves getting too angry, frustrated, or bitter. Today, pray for all those affected by COVID-19 and who are currently battling it. Commit to praying for those in need regardless of their political beliefs.
