Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of a miracle baby whose parents remember each year just far he has come. Logan Ray was born at 23 weeks and weighed just 1.5 pounds. As he lay in the NICU under constant monitoring and care, his parents took a picture of him next to a 12 inch Superman action figure – both Logan and Superman were the same size. Logan grew and survived 105 days in the NICU before going home, and today is an action and healthy 4 year old boy. Each year, his parents take a picture of him with that same Superman action figure though to show how far he has come. It is a powerful reminder of God’s goodness and the blessings that can come even when they start very small.

There are a lot of verses in the Bible about not looking back, but those verses really mean more that we should not look back wanting at our former lives, especially to times before we knew the Lord. But looking back to remember just how far the Lord has brought us is a good thing. We are all works in progress and seeing the sometimes slow, sometimes rapid changes in our lives with the perspective we have today only leads to further glorification of God. Paul wrote, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Sometimes it is good to look backward to remind ourselves of God’s goodness, from where he has led us, and the blessings he has given us along the way. Today, look back to remember the place you were in and recognize the blessings that God has given you to bring you to today.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” – Philippians 1:6 ESV
