Over the weekend, the media called the election for Joe Biden. With such a close election, it’s safe to say half the country is happy about this and half are not. However, when we look to worldly events, no matter how large or consequential, as the source of our joy in life, we are destined to live lives of anxiety, frustration, and worst of all, missing God’s purpose for us. Paul urged the Romans, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Today, whether you are happy or sad about the election, look to Jesus as your source of joy, hope, and peace.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13 ESV
