In life we all hit seasons when things are just hard. We get tired, we get complacent, we get lazy, and we lose motivation. But God makes no mistakes with where he places us in life — He knows the hairs on our heads and He has ordered our steps. There’s much Scripture that testifies to the power of patience and steady work in faith as a foundational element to God’s earthly blessings, but Jesus puts it most succinctly in John 17. He says, “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.” When we hit those times of struggle, when things get hard, focus on the work God has set before us to bring Him glory. While our eternal place in heaven is assured through faith alone, there is blessing to be had in this life. In bringing glory to the Lord, our lives take on purpose, and a purposeful life in the Lord is a blessed one. Today, whatever you know God has placed before you, go after it towards completion. “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.” — John 17:4
