Have you ever felt appreciative of those in ministry for their ability to speak into your life and encourage your faith? Have you ever felt like that’s something you would love to do but feel ill-equipped to do yourself? Good news: that is the reason Jesus gives us great ministry leaders. The goal of a ministry leader is not just to encourage us to keep the faith but to equip us to build faith in others. Paul says, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Nothing makes a pastor, small group leader, or disciple-maker happier than someone coming to them asking for equipping in ministry. Christ uses all kinds of talent, not just leadership and teaching/preaching ability, to build His Church. Today, take the step of faith to ask for equipping by ministry leaders you know. They can equip and God will do the rest. This is how Paul says we all will “reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
