God works in infinitely many ways and each person’s path back to Him is different. In many cases, there is some sort of obstacle in life that pulls us back to Him — something that makes us realize that we cannot do life on our own. Sometimes that obstacle is placed there by God himself, other times we create our own obstacles by the choices we make. The Book of Acts recounts one such obstacle in the story of how Saul came to be Paul. Saul was so against Jesus that Jesus decided to physically blind him until he met Jesus’ follower, Ananias, who healed him. The Bible says, “Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength.” Jesus has the power to create the change we need in life, but it is on us to follow through after. Saul got up from where he lay, and took care of the two things he needed — first, spiritually by being baptized, and second, bodily, strengthening himself by eating. From there, we know the amazing work he did spreading the Gospel. Today, if you are facing an obstacle, give it to Jesus, trust in his provision, but don’t stop there. Take the next steps to build yourself spiritually and strengthen yourself physically up so in Jesus, you will overcome.
