In the final days of this year, most of us are thinking about what we are going to change in the next year to achieve the things we want in our life. While this is a great endeavor, most of us take the wrong approach towards it. We focus more on what we can do at home, at work, or what habits to change. But the Bible doesn’t teach that good things come from these things alone — they come from the Lord. In James, it says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Since we know all good things come from Lord, to be blessed with those things in the new year, we must seek more of Lord. Today, as you consider what you’d like to change in the new year, decide to make the most important change you can make: seeking earnestly and diligently after Jesus every day.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” — James 1:17
