When we turn on the news or scroll through the internet, there is never any shortage of things to be angry about. Past that, there are often things that cause alarm, and fear, in us because we do not know what will happen in the future. While it is good, and Biblical, to be engaged in the world and always seeking to spread the message of hope and redemption that is in Jesus, if we cannot do so without becoming angry or divisive, it is time to hit the pause button. The God we serve brings us peace, confidence, love, and so many other positive things; if our words and actions to others inspire the opposite, we have an issue. It is important to re-center our thoughts, our temper, and our souls with Jesus. Psalm 4 says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Being a warrior for the Lord requires spending ample time recovering from the battles. That recovery time is time, in peace, with the Lord. Today, if you are finding yourself becoming bitter, angry, or judging, hit the pause button on the TV and rest your soul with Jesus.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” – Psalm 4:8
