A lot happens each day and each week in the news, and while that all happens around us, a lot happens in our own lives, jobs, families, and relationships. Sometimes it seems the world just spins too fast. If there is one thing this pandemic has shown us it is that life can be lived more simply than we previously thought. It is possible to slow down, refocus our priorities, and recognize what is important and what is not. A verse in the Book of Micah puts the important things in life succinctly as well as reminds us that we already know, in our hearts, what is good and of God, and what is not. It says, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Life becomes much more simple when we take the time to recognize what in our lives is of God and what is not. When we move our lives towards the things of God and away from the things that are not, we will be happier, more blessed, and more able to handle the difficulties of life. Today, take time to recognize what in your life is of God and good, and what is not.
